Conceptual Domain.
What is SQRW strategy? SQRW can be briefly defined as a reading strategy planned to
help reader understand better the information in their reading materials. This strategy is
divided into four steps:
1) Survey (reading to learn what a reading material is all about)
2) Questions (using questions to understand what you are looking for during reading)
3) Reading (read to find answers for all questions formed)
4) Write (write your answer for references)
With these steps, it helps pupils not only to improve their reading skills, but also to
comprehend better understanding of what they are reading from reading materials such as
books, textbooks and newspapers.

Resources Domain.
There are unlimited resources that can be used for teaching reading. For primary school
pupils, teacher in charge can opt to using prepared syllabus or other kinds of stimuli as the main
subject for teaching reading. Materials such as textbooks and activity books provided can easily
be the easiest to access and be used during lesson. In order to maximize pupils reading skills, a
teacher should expose them to variety of stimuli authentic materials such as newspapers,
magazines and books and choose the best excerpt that can complement their lesson better.

Practical Domain.
Being able to read well and understand the content of reading materials helps pupils in
expanding their linguistic capabilities. There are many linguistic areas that teachers can
elaborate from reading skills such as vocabulary and pronunciation. SQRW strategy is a strategy
that can be applied in almost reading lesson. However, in teaching reading skills and improving
pupils reading comprehension, a teacher should explain what is SQRW and its How-to briefly
to pupils for better understanding. With ample exposure and practice, pupils will get used to
this reading strategy and use it more frequently to improve their language proficiency,
especially in reading comprehension and skills.
