NoteBook #5

6b. What are some opportunities for change that you have heard of, or that
shoul d be made? Write a poem composed of questi ons about why these
changes shoul d/shoul dnt occur and/or havent occurred? As an example of a
questions poem, here are the fi rst two stanzas of a poem from Pablo
Neruda's The Book of Questions: "And what is the name of the month/ that
falls between December and January?// By what authority di d they number/
the twelve grapes of the cluster?"

United
Everything fought for
Is beginning to be lost
The hate increases
Im beginning to lose faith
Please do not deny my rights

Everyone wants peace
At least thats what I dream for
Why fight with each other?
There are only two of us
Lets live this world united.

Lately, Ive found it to be very interesting about the resent hate on feminism
in America. I have done a lot of research about the inequalities in many other
countries. I have found disturbing articles and laws that are against womens rights
in many countries. I find it very frustrating to hear a digression that seems to be
happening here in America when it comes to womens rights and the negative
feedback about it.
It has become a trending topic with not only forum sites, but also now people
in the media. Websites like Tublr with pages called Women against Feminism or
feminism is a hate movement have become viral. I find this site particularly
disturbing because they spread hate, and false ideas about what feminism actually is
to a point that it has gone rampant. The definition of feminism is The advocacy of
women's rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men. It is
common to hear false remarks that feminism is against equality, hate men, and are
fighting for nothing nowadays, when this is the complete opposite of feminism. It seems
to be mainstream nowadays for some women and men to be against feminism, but one
will benefit from its continued work toward maintaining basic rights and eliminating the
kinds of sexism that cannot be legislated against regardless. Its very easy for Women
Against Feminism to declare that they dont need feminism using the voice and powers
that feminism made possible and which it continues to fight for. Without feminism,
myself, and other women would not have rights. I wouldnt be writing this paper because
I wouldnt be given the right to an education or to speak about my thought and
empowerment of my rights as a human.
