STAGE SPECTACULAR
2014
As a class you have to
prepare a 5 minute (max)
movement performance to
present a theme to the
audience & Judges.
2014 THEME: WE NOW KNOW

This year you will select your own
theme, drawing from learning in a
subject other than P.E. or Health. It
might be an issue or event you have
studied, that you can transform into a
Stage Spectacular with a positive
message to the audience (like a
solution to a problem or an idea for the
future)
INDIVIDUAL - Social Responsibility & Cooperation
You will be assessed by your teacher throughout the unit.
This is as important as the performance assessment and
will be reported on.

Contribution : changed into PE gear, participating,
practicing, contributing ideas, fulfilling your role/tasks set

Co operation : on task behavior, working well within the
group, including others, helping others practice or
complete tasks


What will I be assessed on??
1. Choreography : appropriateness to the theme,
interpretation of music, creativity.
2. Stage use : use of area, levels, placement and use of
props, entrances and exits.
3. Skill : use of dance aspects, drama techniques,
timing, variety, originality, form, flow.
4. Message : is the message clear, is it positive, does it
make the audience think.
5. Overall impact : total performance impact with all
above elements considered

CHOREOGRAPHERS
In charge of working all aspects of the group performance
together. They, along with the rest of the class, need to:
Decide the theme.
Write a storyline for your theme.
Arrange class members into groups to perform
sections of the storyline.
Oversee groups throughout the practice time.
Put the final performance music CD together.
Write & design the finale of the class performance.
Write a monologue to brief the audience & judges
on your performance theme before presenting.


CREATIVE DIRECTOR
In charge of finding suitable music for
your group section

They need to:
Lead their group in music selection
Get the music on CD for practicing
& give a copy to the director for
final performance soundtrack
MUSIC MAESTROS
In charge of writing the final story that you
are going to portray in your section.

They need to:

Lead their group in brainstorming ideas
together about how to tell their part of
the main theme.
Ensure the groups message is clear.
Make sure the groups story fits in with the
overall class theme.
STORY WRITERS
In charge of deciding on what props your group will
use on stage during your section.

They need to:
Pick props to help portray your message/theme.
Organise how you will get the props e.g. do you
need to make props, buy materials, who will bring
the props on performance day etc.
Decide how to best use the props in your
performance.
SET DESIGNER
In charge of deciding on what costumes your
group will use on stage during your section.

They need to:
Organise the preparation of the costumes
Ensure the costumes help to portray the
message/theme
Organise when, where and what each
person in your group is wearing during the
performance.
COSTUME CO-ORDINATOR
In charge of designing how you will use dance and
drama to portray your groups part of the class theme.
They will also help the directors to oversee the jobs to
be completed within your group.

They need to:
Design the group dance & drama performance
Check with other group members that they
have fulfilled their job descriptions.
Consult with the creative directors about
progress and changes your group is making.
GROUP CHOREOGRAPHER
