The Crisis of Childhood Obesity: Is It

Reversible?
Statistics show that more than 12.5 million children and adolescents -- 17.1% of people ages 2 to 19 years
-- are overweight or obese. These children and adolescents are more likely to have serious risk factors
associated with cardiovascular disease such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and Type 2 diabetes.
Teaching children the importance of healthy eating and being physically active at a young age is crucial
to reversing the serious obesity epidemic in this country.
