SUBJECT: Research Proposal for Inquiry into the Discipline of Marketing

In what follows, I introduce my research project, provide background information on the project
and a review of literature, and discuss my research procedure and methodology. I submit this
research proposal for your review and approval.

Introduction

In this project I will collect data on the discipline of marketing. The goal of this project is to get
information about the culture of the discipline of marketing. I will gather this information
through the questioning of the individuals that are part of the culture of marketing, such as
teachers and students. My project is worth to be performed because it will get information that
will benefit the students that are interested in this major and those who are still undecided, it will
help them test their compatibility with this discipline. My project is meant to get information
about the community of marketing, its individuals, the behaviors and interest of those individuals
and of the academic topics that are part of it. Learning about the culture of marketing will help
with the transition of becoming an insider of the community. What I need to accomplish is to
obtain data that will inform me profoundly about the discipline of marketing.


Literature Review and Background

My project is associated with the ideas that to understand an environment the behaviors of the
individuals that are in that environment are key to understanding it in a more profound way.
There searches that Im going to perform will not only the study the discipline of marketing in an
intellectual level but also in a cultural level. By studying the persons that form part of the culture
of marketing I will understand the discipline in a better way. This project explores the
community inside the discipline of marketing, the individuals with in the community, in what
ways to succeed in this career, what academic courses are needed to complete the career of
marketing. My questions explore marketing in a cultural and academic approach such as, what
makes marketing what it is? What are the interests/behaviors of the people with in the discipline?
What kind of community is held in marketing? What classes are taken in the major of marketing?
What takes to be successful in the career of marketing? It is not to my knowledge that any other
person has ever attempted to perform and investigation such as mine about the discipline of
marketing, this type of project is quite new in the university.


Procedure/Methodology

I need data from a professor of this discipline, data such as descriptions about the courses, views
and opinions, and views on how to succeed in this discipline. The method that I will use will be
an interview; they are particularly effective to get information from one person rather than large
group. Getting information from students, data that will be collected from the students will be
about their interests in marketing, their participation with in the community, views and opinions,
and future plans. I can obtain this information through surveys. I will also observe the professor
and students while in class, to observe the students and processors in their natural environment
and make notes about their behaviors. In order to complete this project the participation of
professors and students is crucial due it that the information that I need cannot be obtain through
books. I will also need a website through which the surveys will be answered.


Conclusion
Im sure I can complete this project effectively, given that all my resources are available in
campus. It will not be easy but the results are worth it. This project will help me know if
marketing is the career that I want to pursue or if I need to look elsewhere thats why the results
are important
