General:

During this semester we will:
Develop:
o Skills and strategies to anticipate, predict, and confirm meaning
while reading, viewing and listening.
o Conclusions based on information from various sources and
defend these conclusions rationally.
Demonstrate:
o An understanding of written, oral and visual communications and
use appropriate vocabulary and conventions of language.
o A variety of strategies to organize information and ideas.
o An appropriate use of language to explore thoughts, ideas,
feelings and experiences.
o An ability to interact with others to establish relationships,
collaborate on tasks, support others and accomplish goals.
Identify:
o Connections between course content and personal experience.

Novel Studies

Assessment:

Terms Individual Assignments

Term 1 40%
Term 2 40%
Final Exam 20%


Major Assignments 30%
Tests and Quizzes 25%

Expectations and Policies:

Assignments: Due dates for major assignments will be assigned well in
advance. Late assignments will be accepted, at the penalty of 2 percent per
day. Late assignments will be given a mark but no comments.

Tests: Should students miss a test, a note must be provided in order for the
test to be written at a later date. Talking during tests is prohibited and a mark
of 0 will be awarded should a student choose to do so.

Attendance: Students are responsible for work missed on days absent.
Students arriving late to class are to knock politely and wait for admittance to
class.

Conduct: 1. Respect: Yourself and each other in your speech and actions.
