Informal Letters
This is the type of letter you would send to
a friend or to someone you personally know.
Presentation is important. Marks are
awarded for layout and for punctuation.
Be careful to use language that is suitable
for the letter you are writing. For example,
you wouldnt use the same vocabulary you
would use in a letter to your friend if you
were writing to your parents.
Layout
Your address should be written at the top
right-hand corner. Make sure to leave
enough space to fit each line of the
address, on a new line.
Layout of an Informal Letter (To
someone you know)
1. Your address
2. The Date

3. Greeting ( Hello etc)

4. Short introduction
5. Main points of the letter ( New paragraph
for a new point!)
6. Conclusion
7. Sign off

You are Miss Caroline. You have just finished your first
day of work and are writing an informal letter to your
friend Miss Georgina Alexander.
In your letter tell her about your place of residence
while you are in Maycomb.
Tell her about your day in school.
Tell her about your new class and any events that may
have occurred in your class.
Tell her how you felt in school and your feelings on
Maycomb overall so far.
