Fall 2014 1 st period- 8:00-9:20am During this course, students will learn the NC suggested vocabulary, technical working terms. They will also be do critiques, and include literacy, by writing about art and responding to other artwork. Technology will be a huge part of this, and all Visual Art courses, through lessons and the Blogs. Every student will house their work in a personal blog or digital profile. This blog will be one source of assessment used throughout the semester and will continue through all levels of their visual arts learning. In Visual Art, projects and lessons often involve several objectives from the NC Standards, not a specific standard. Week one- Drawing - Syllabus - Begin Drawing unit- shading using lines and different media ( Standards: B.V.1, B.V.3) Week two- Drawing - Begin Drawing shapes and shading using techniques and adding value Week three- Concepts, Color, Drawing - Color project (Standards: B.V.1, B.V.2, B.V.3, B.CX.2, B.CR.1) Week four- Concepts, Color, Drawing, Technology - Continue designing color wheel motif - Begin painting color wheels - Do lesson on Blogs- Tech. facilitator come in to speak to class (Standard: B.CX.2, B.CR.1) Week five- Painting - Finish painting color wheels - Begin Abstract pastel- Composition project (finding images to crop) (Standards: B.V.1, B.V.2, B.V.3, B.CX.2, B.CR.1) - Week six- Pastels, Composition - Finish Abstract pastel composition - Whats in a Name project- Font design(Standards: B.V.1, B.V.2, B.V.3, B.CX.2, B.CR.1)
Week seven- Pastels, Composition - Finish Font project - Begin African Mask medallions project (B.V.1.1- B.V.2.1- B.V.2.3B.CX.1.1- B.CX.1.4). Week eight drawing, Design - Begin perspective drawing- class example of 1pt and 2pt (Standards: B.V.1, B.V.2, B.V.3, B.CX.2, ) - -Students will begin 1pt perspective 3D project and incorporate analogous color schemes - Begin zentangles project (Standards: B.V.1, B.V.3) - Use zentangles to do a contour shoe drawing and filling it in Week nine - Ceramics - Begin ugly face mugs from clay (Standards: B.V.1, B.V.2, B.V.3,B.CX.1, B.CX.2, B.CR.1) Week ten- Ceramics - Fire and glaze mugs - Board Christmas card design (Standard: B.CX.2)
Week eleven- Pop Art - Begin Romero Britto- pop art project (Standards: B.V.1, B.V.2, B.V.3,B.CX.1, B.CX.2, B.CR.1) Week twelve - Finish Romero Britto project Week thirteen- Self expression, multi-media - Begin Altered pages project (Standards: B.V.1, B.V.2, B.V.3,B.CX.1, B.CX.2, B.CR.1) Week fourteen- Craft - Finish Altered pages - Begin Christmas wreath project Week fifteen- seventeen- Folk Art - Weaving project (Standards: B.V.1, B.V.2, B.V.3,B.CX.1, B.CX.2, B.CR.1) Week 18 is exam week
