Health education standards

Students will define what electronic aggression and describe what the characteristics are
of cyber bullying.
Students will demonstrate strategies to stay safe during violent situations and how to
avoid those types of situation.


Performance Indicators
Examine the definition of electronic aggression
Identify the effects that electronic aggression has on individuals
Introduce strategies to avoid and report cyber bullying

Health Goals
Generate a complete understanding of what electronic aggression is
Provide ways to influence others against cyber bullying
Encourage students to report bullying activity

Materials
I will be utilizing a video to discuss the impact of cyber bullying, a short power point
presentation to define what electronic aggression is, and paper and pens for observations and
class discussion.


Introduction: 10 minutes___________________
1) Today we are going to talk about a new concept that has been spreading like wild fire. It
has been known to hurt people, and to cause people to hurt themselves. It is a completely
controllable epidemic that does not benefit any single individual. Today we are going to
discuss the concept of electronic aggression.

2) Everyone take out a piece of paper and write down three definitions or ideas of what you
think electronic aggression is.




Input: 35 minutes___________________________

1) Bring up power point presentation on the definition, examples, what constitutes, and how
it affects individuals (see power point for details)
A. Definition
B. What constitutes
C. Examples/ways
D. Effects it has

2) Show video about Cyber Bullying
A. Have students make notes about:
I. What can be done to prevent
II. What can YOU do to prevent
III. How can YOU influence others to stop

3) Introduce RSTs-adapted from the National Crime Prevention Council

**Pick and choose appropriate for high school/middle school
A. Report cyberbullying to a trusted adult.
B. Refuse to pass along cyberbullying messages.
C. Raise awareness of the cyberbullying problem in your community by holding an
assembly and creating fliers to give to younger kids or parents.
D. Speak with other students, as well as teachers and school administrators, about
developing rules against cyberbullying.
E. Share anti-cyberbullying messages with friends.
F. Save your personal cell phone number for close, trusted friends and family because
people can always call your house number.
G. Tell friends to stop cyberbullying.
H. Think before accepting IMs or messages online.
I. Talk with your parents about internet safety and what you do on the internet.

Conclusion: 5-10 minutes__________________
1) Summarize the importance of putting a stop to cyberbullying
2) Have students share out loud ways of preventing cyberbullying
3) Describe the expectations that I have personally toward my students to eliminate any sort
of bullying
