I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
Identify and describe the characters in the story;
Appreciate the story through various creative activities;
Construct a reaction paper on the story.

Region 1 or the Ilocos Region has 4
provinces namely Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte,
La Union and Pangasinan.


The capital of Ilocos Norte is Laoag City;
Ilocos Sur is Vigan City; La Union is San
Fernando and Pangasinan is Lingayen.

B. Presentation
Today, we will discuss one of the literary pieces from
region 1 written by Manuel E. Arguilla entitled How My
Brother Leon Brought Home a Wife.
Are you all familiar with the author? With his works?

b.1 Introduction of the Author
Manuel E. Arguilla was born on June 17, 1911 in
Nagrebcan, La Union to parents Crisanto Arguilla and
Margarita Estabillo and he died on 1944.
He was an Ilokano writer and best known for his short
story How My Brother Leon Brought Home a Wife which
won first prize in the Commonwealth Literary Contest in
1940.

what do you want to know from the story?

answer those questions as we go through the story.
