GOALS PLANNING OUTLINE

TIER #1: LIFESTYLE GOALS
Determine what your priorities are for your day-to-day life during your career.

1.) Manage Stress I plan to have the ability to adequately manage my workload to a point where stress/burnout is
not an issue.

2.) Financially Secure

3.) Maintaining Good Health Exercising regularly and eating properly.

4.) Leisure Being able to set aside time to take a break from work and enjoy leisurely activities.

5.) Overall Happiness - It is extremely important to be happy with my career.

TIER #2: CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
List the careers you eliminated from your FOCUS assessment and describe why you eliminated them.

1.) Agricultural Sciences Professor I chose to eliminate this career path because it simply does not suit me. The
three majors do not cater to my interests/knowledge/skill set. I would be scratching my head for most of the time.

2.) Sportswriter To echo my first reasoning, this field is beyond my expertise. Sports do not interest me enough to
take up a career. While I do like journalism, I would find myself in another field.

3.) Landscape Architect I feel that with this career, there is not much room for creativity and using ones personal
intellect and artistry. It feels too limited and confined to a single path to finish a goal. I prefer to be in a career where
there are no limitations.

4.) Fashion Coordinator I have no desire to pursue a career in fashion.

5.) Architecture Professor While I do think the idea of teaching is quite fascinating, if I were to do so it would not
be in architecture.

I dentify the careers that would work with your lifestyle goals (be sure to include specific examples from the
positions you researched as potential career paths).

1.) Editorial Writer, Newspapers & Magazines I have always expressed a desire to work as a writer. I feel my
personal strengths lie in writing, no matter which type. I have had some hands on work with newspaper/magazine
editing.

2.) Screen Writer As previously stated, I would like to pursue a possible career that involves writing. While this
may be a bit taxing, and may not necessarily meet my lifestyle goals, I would be pleased to be working in this field.

3.) Writer/Author Being an author would meet my lifestyle goals. It would not be too taxing, and I feel that I
would have the creative freedoms that I so desire in my career.

4.) Radio & TV News Commentator I have also wanted to pursue a career in radio. There would be little stress
involved and I would be content.

5.) Reporter While I this would not be my most popular choice, I still would want to work within TV, and I feel
being a reporter would be an enjoyable job. Reporting for a news station is something I could see myself interested,
although my main preference would be behind the camera.
