Putin is controlling the Russian Media to Affect the Russian and The Crimean
Russia is a huge country that ruled by a dictator. To affect the people, Putin and
Russian government controls the media and play with words so people will not fight back.
The Russians only able to know the news that the government want them to hear. Putin is a
Russian president that won in the latest election. Now hes become one of the most famous
person in Russia. This is caused by the media propaganda. Even his popularity is still
increasing lately. Did not stop there, the Russian media is involved in Crimean War. They
influenced the Crimeans by banned the Ukrainian channels and changed it with Russian
channel. Through those channels, they spread propaganda and spread some threat to make the
Crimeans afraid. Putin is a smart president, he could use his power to exploit the media as a
propaganda machine. Putin manage to twist the news, become a popular president, and affect
the Crimean War by using those media.
Russian media persuade the Russians to believe that they are always right and they
will blame all the negative things to their foe or Foreign Enemy. This Foreign Enemy is
mostly the Western countries especially the US. One of the example happened recently, in
the Crimeas conflict. We know that Russia took part to made the Crimeans protest to their
president but the Russians do not think that they were involve in it, a Russian MP, Nikitin,
said that the Main battle of World War III is under way in Ukraine. The aggressor is
Western civilization, which includes the US and Europe. (Maidukov, par. 17). With this
statement Nikitin basically used name calling propaganda to create a negative sense about

their Foreign Enemy. They made Russians believe that Russia was not involve in Crimeas
conflict because they twisted the news and blame their foes.
Russian media supported Putin to be a president and helped him to be a famous
person. Almost all of Russians movies/videos, books, posters, and radio had the similar
content and purpose, to support Putin and make him popular by repeating the ideas and used
repetition propaganda. If you are Russian you can saw, heard, or watched their media
spreading Putins kindness and his services to the Russians. In his election campaign, Putin
success team made a comic strip and posted it in the internet with multiple languages. This
comic is titled Superputin, it tell us that Putin is a Russian hero that has a great martial arts
skill. The story of this comic strip is about Superputin that prevent a bus bombing by the Al-
Qaeda. Now almost all of Russian loves Putin. Sam Greene and Graeme Robertson wrote
The most recent reading, from August 2014, put Putins approval at a massive (even by his
standards) 84 percent. (Greene and Robertson, par. 1). As we can see his endorsment
increased rapidly because of his technique. This is an evidence which prove that using
propaganda make the media succeed promoting Putin. Now he becomes a president and the
most important person in Russia.
Altough the Russians believe that they are not the Crimea War arggeressor but a
Crimean that hates Russia made a conffesion about what happened in Crimea. A Crimean
said that Russia has banned the Ukrainian channels and changed it with Russian channels to
persuade them to enter Russia, if they resist they will be threaten. The Russian did this to
convinced the Crimeans to enter Russia and to control their mind and thoughts. They used
emotional eppeal propaganda technique in their channels to affect the Crimeans. They used
fear to scare them. In an interview with Marco Ferraro, Maria Tomak said All of Ukrainian
TV channels have been cut off, since they were giving more or less objective descriptions
about what's happening. and The media are saying that "Banderistas" are going to come

from Kiev by train and kill all people of Crimea, and people believe in that! (Ferraro, par.7).
This statement prove that not all of Crimeans are agree with what the Russians did in Crimea.
Some of the Crimeans were forced to enter Russia and they said Russian propagandas in
Crimea could be considered as brandwashing.
Putin is a very powerful man that make him able to control the media and use it to
affect others and twisting the news. He persuade most of the Russians to belive that he is the
best and persuade them to chose him in the election. Even he succeed to persuade Crimean to
enter Russia. Russians skill in playing with words has bring a huge benefit, the Russian
belives that Russia is never wrong because they always blame Foreign Enemy. Putin used
the media for his campaign and to gained support. Putin banned Ukrainian channels in
Crimea and changed them with Russian channels. He also threat the Crimeans. Putin is an
example of a smart person and his gestures is look like a dictator. Putin used a very effective
way to gain power, this idea can be emulated by another countries to gain power.
