Stop the Bully Day (incursion) October 13

The bullying seminar is designed for students to focus on they key issues surrounding
bullying and cyber bullying. The seminar addresses the target, the bully, and most
importantly strategies on how to respond, be resilient and seek support.
On the day there will be interactive games, role-plays, stories, music and video clips.
Stop the Bully day will equip students to be aware of the causes of bullying and be
assertive in creating a safe and healthy environment for their peers. The seminar is
designed from kindergarten to year 6.

The main messages that students should learn through bully proof day are:
I know bullying is unacceptable

Technology is good tool but I need to be responsible in how I use it.

Their okay that we all act, talk, and think differently. Its okay that we also look
differently

Students have a right to feel safe in any environment and online.

There are options to stop bullying.

I play a role to stop bullying.

Guest speakers from Values for Life School will present the seminar, engaging and
stimulating students learning through the program. It will incorporate Building social
relationships and working in teams.
Outcomes:
Growth and Development- GDS2.9 -Describes life changes and associated feelings-
students will learn how to express feelings and opinions associated with bullying
experience they have dealt with or witness.

Interpersonal relationships- IRS2.11- describes how relationships with a range of
people enhance wellbeing- students will learn how to build positive relationships and
except differences are ok.

Safe Living- SLS2.13- Discusses how safe practices promote personal wellbeing-
Students will learn by treating others with respect can promote wellbeing for
themselves and not getting into trouble by causing emotional and physical harm.

Communicating- COS2.1- reports on participation in games and activities to a large
group- students will communicate their ideas on bullying and why it is not acceptable.

Interacting- INS2.3- participates in the development of class rules- after the seminar
students can develop rules that will relate to bullying not being acceptable and
tolerated in the class and playground.

Personal Development, Health and Physical Education-Decision Making- DMS2.2 -
Makes decisions as an individual and as a group member- Students will learn how
their individual decisions help one another. This will perpetuate positive attitudes that
no matter how different someone are they can all work together.

The guest speakers will provide for each session a variety of input including:
multimedia, stories, music, video, and games.

The duration of seminars for each grade is:

* 45minutes (for grade prep.)
* 60minutes (for grades 1 to 3)
* 90minutes (for grades 4 to 6)

Guest speakers will provide:
* All audio-visual equipment.
* Follow up booklet for teachers, including lesson plans and student worksheets.

Students will also view video clips and role-play.
