I had the pleasure of wor!n" w!th #tephan!e $alsen dur!n" the th!rd %uarter of the 201&'2014
school year at the (us!ness and )conom!cs *cademy of M!lwauee+ Ms+ $alsen was
complet!n" her fourth and f!nal f!eld e,per!ence !n my classroom+ -er ob.ect!/e was to plan and
!mplement e!"ht lessons as whole "roup !nstruct!on+
Ms+ $alsen demonstrated effect!/e teach!n" s!lls by plann!n" and !mplement!n"
en"a"!n" lessons+ -er plans were well thou"ht out and !ncorporated !nstruct!onal strate"!es
that would ensure student success+ Ms+ $alsen stro/e to help students understand the wr!t!n"
process+ #he created mater!als that students could eas!ly relate to+ #he d!d an e,cellent .ob
plann!n" a wr!t!n" pro.ect w!th the students for #harp 0!teracy wh!ch were then publ!shed !n a
boo+
1apport was bu!lt /ery eas!ly between the students and Ms+ $alsen+ Wh!le teach!n" she
would always !nteract pos!t!/ely w!th the students and "!/e words of encoura"ement and
pra!se+ When red!rect!on was needed w!th students !t was done !n a calm respectful manner+
I apprec!ated the profess!onal!sm Ms+ $alsen showed on a cons!stent bas!s+ Whether !t
was commun!cat!n" w!th students, parents, or fellow staff !t was always done profess!onally+
#he always showed up on t!me, e/en came !n early, and learned to be /ery fle,!ble+
Ms+ $alsen2s pass!on for educat!on !s /ery e/!dent throu"h her plann!n", !nstruct!on,
!nteract!ons w!th students, and her enthus!asm+ I welcome the opportun!ty to ha/e her wor !n
my classroom, or any other classroom, to share that pass!on w!th as many ch!ldren poss!ble+
