TRYING TO GET HOME

-revised-
-Dwight P. Isebia-

Many fear immediate happiness,
deemed to be deluding and frail,
convinced that easy joy will be replaced
by damaged souls and emptiness;
they run, in their desire to escape
the seductive grip of disguised danger,
and defy their nature on the way
to reach a sanctioned destination
But many needles point to poles
in the compass of perception:
For clues to find the right direction
to go on in order to get home
where we might already be,
if we would know
