RISD Hand knitting Design Certificate
Ann Faith shared information about an interesting new program offered through RISD Continuing Education. The
following description comes from the schools webpage:
This program's goal is for hand knitting design students to create collections that best suit their style and interest in
apparel, accessories, home design and sustainable living through fiber products. Students have the opportunity to
develop skills in hand knitting design, pattern writing, construction of knitted pieces, fiber study and critical analysis.
The curriculum provides exposure to the business of freelance design, sourcing of fibers and guidelines for
submission to international knitting design magazines. Students can apply their skills toward work as freelance
designers, authors and shop owners.

At the February meeting:
We shared tips and tricks for using Ravelry. Topics discussed how to
setup up projects, adding photos, notes and details to create a history
of our work as well as sharing experiences with other members of
Ravelry. The forums and comments are a great way to connect with
other fiber enthusiasts, as well as the designers and independent
fiber artists around the world. We learned how to add patterns to our
libraries and perform advanced searches to find new projects or help
on projects we are planning. It was a great discussion. Thanks to
everyone who participated and shared tips! If you have questions or
suggestions for Ravelry Tips II, dont hesitate to contact Becky
(rebeling) or Jen (jensknits) on Ravelry.
