Network topology
Network topology is the physical
interconnections of the elements
of a computer network. A
local area network (LAN) is one
example of a network that
exhibits both a physical topology
and a logical topology.
Network topologies are
categorized into the following
basic types:
bus
ring
star
mesh
Bus Topology
In a bus net work, a single lengt h of wire,
cable, or opt ical fiberconnect s a num ber
of com put ers .All com m unicat ions t ravel

Advantages
Disadvantages
The whole network is affected
if the main unit “goes
down,” and all
communications stop.
Cost of cabling the central
system and the points of the
star together are very high.
