Katie L. Browning Azusa Pacific University EDTC 526 Running head: Global Learning Project 1 Global Learning Project 2 GLP Site: http://diggardens.weebly.com/ Key Leanings: 1. Make sure that your project is one that is doable by yourself at your school (I am still waiting on the green light from the principal for the garden) 2. See what other sites besides iEARN and ePals can help promote your GLP (especially when you don't know that they are closed for new projects) 3. Collaborate with a class that has the same technical support as you do Future: Unfortunately I wasn't able to get this project up and running this fall (my intention!), however my principal and I have chatted on several occasions and have plans to open the garden this spring. In the meantime I will keep my project on my website, Twitter, and iEARN, as well as promote to other schools in the area to see if they would like to participate. There is a similar project on iEARN that I have joined and will follow closely to see how that pans out. My hope is to see the positive/negative from that project to help with mine. My students and I are excited to get the garden started this spring. We will be collecting data, taking pictures, blogging, and making a project for the end of the year to share with the other participating classes. Crossing my fingers for a wonderful spring adventure! Global Learning Project 3 You are logged in. Encourages students to participate in global/local communities. GLP has specific collaborative elements and benefits participating partners. I joined an iEARN project that is very similar to my garden projects while waiting on my school to continue with funding/resources. I am taking good tips throughout their journey and I will continue to promote my GLP to others within the project. I will promote on iEARN and Twitter, as well as Edmodo and my Districts website. After collaborating in two other GLPs through iEARN I have learned that there are many teachers/students that are eager to join a project as soon as possible. This project allows students to work with others in their community by getting donations, as well as working with students from across the globe to share information and awareness of their culture. Each student will truly benefit in participating in this project with their peers. I have seen in my other GLPs that my class participated in that when you make it global, the students feel alive and more willing to learn. Global Learning Project 6 Collaborating Coming Soon!
