We will be spending the next two marking periods studying the human
body systems and their functions. We will spend approximately 1 week
on each system. This project has two parts. The first part is to research
an assigned body system and create a poster to show your findings. The
second part is to write a one page informational paper on your body
system.

1. What to research for your assigned body system:
Diagram of your system.
List and explain the functions of the organ system.
Identify the major organs and their functions.
Describe one disease associated with your body system.
Identify the causes for the disease you chose.
Explain the treatment necessary for this disease.

2. Display all your information on your poster. In addition to the
above information, your poster must include:
Title
Outline of body
Diagram of major organs in anatomically correct locations
(Be creative! Is there a way to design your diagram rather
than just drawing it? Think about what we discussed in
class!) You may not print a diagram from the internet. You
must draw the diagram yourself.
Label major organs
3. Your paper must include the following and be written in
paragraphs using complete sentences.
Introduction to your system
Description of your system including major functions
Explain some of the major organs in your system and their
functions.
Describe one disease associated with your system, identify
the causes, and available treatments
Conclusion to your system
Cited list of sources used for your project
It is recommended that you type your paper. (Format: 12 pt,
double space, Arial or Times New Roman font)


You will have a minimum of 4 class periods to research your
information. You may use internet sources, library books, or your
science book to help you. The due date for this project will be
based on the system you are assigned. Your poster is worth 100
points and the paper is worth 40 points. Both will be recorded on
the 4
th
marking period. Your project and paper will be graded
based on the rubric attached. Please refer to this often as you
complete your project and paper.
