To change wind into Kinetic energy for an alternative source of electricity.

Wind mills, wind turbines , and electrical cords to move the energy from place to place.
How is the energy stored and used?
Right now there is no way on storing this energy at the moment but there is companies working on it,
the leading company is a company is Massachusetts that is working on using flywheels to store up to 20
megawatts of electricity.
How does wind energy work?
A blade acts much like an airplane wing. When the wind blows, a pocket of low-pressure air forms on
the downwind side of the blade. The low-pressure air pocket then pulls the blade toward it, causing the
rotor to turn. This is called lift. The force of the lift is actually much stronger than the wind's force
against the front side of the blade, which is called drag. The combination of lift and drag causes the rotor
to spin like a propeller, and the turning shaft spins a generator to make electricity.

A wind farm is a group of wind turbines in the same location used to produce electric power.

In 2006, Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro (Hydro) took significant steps toward the integration of
wind generation into the provincial electricity system. Today, there are two wind farms operating in
Newfoundland which generate up to 54 megawatts (MW) of wind energy. Nalcor Energy is also in the
process of commissioning 300 kilowatts of wind power as part of its WindHydrogenDiesel energy
project in the community of Ramea, on the southwest coast of Newfoundland.
