Objective: Students will develop a combination of ability, knowledge and experience that enables to them to
participate in their academics proficiently. Especially as it relates to the four domains of literacy:
reading/writing/speaking/listening, organization, study skills and technology.
Behavioral Expectations:

%nly upon teacher approval will cell phones, i,ods, or other electronic devices allowed. 'tems will be
confiscated and sent to the main office if unauthorized use is observed by the teacher in class.

5 passport uses per /,arter 3pass to leave the class for the restroom, locker, nurse, etc64. &he student must
provide the agenda/passport for the teacher to sign. &he students may be excused at the teacher7s discretion. 'f a
student uses the passport beyond 5 times that 8uarter, the student will lose participation points for that day and a
parent contact will follow. 'f a student needs special access to these outlets, please call/email (r. +right.
#o sunglasses, hats, hoods, or earphones are to be worn in class.

000'f the behavioral expectations, rules, and guidelines are not met, the student7s choice of action will be
recorded by the teacher and necessary procedure will follow:

blend together the above steps depending if the severity of the behavior risks students7 learning or safety.
.rading Polic1: :rades in the class are based in a point0earned system that allows for all assignments.
:rades are determined by the student7s achievement in the following categories: tests, writing, class work,
homework, organization and participation. Students should keep all work to provide a check for possible
grading errors. *lass grades will be awarded on the following scale:
A; 1<<=0><= B;?@=0A<= #;B@=02<= $;5@=09<= ';1@= or .%+E!
't is certainly not the intent of the instructor to have anyone fail, and every student has the potential to do well.
&he choice is with the student. &hose students, however, who earn 1@= or less will fail that particular grading
period. "ccommodations will be made for students on an 'E,.
&here are only two ways a student can fail this course: 14 he/she elects not to attend class regularly- 94 he/she is
in class, but elects not to submit assignments on time, submit assignments poorly done, or not participate.

3ake &p Proced,re: ,lease note the following is the procedure for turning in assignments following an
excused absence.
2+ 'mmediately upon return, find out what assignments were given by checking with (r. +right.
4+ *omplete and turn in assignments within 5 school days of return to class. "ny assignment turned in thereafter will
be considered late.
5+ 'f a student misses a test, 8uiz, or in0class writing assignment it is the responsibilit1 o6 the st,dent to sched,le a
ti7e to 7ake ,p the assign7ent within 5 days of his/her return. "fter the 5 days, the assignment will not be
accessible.
8+ 'f a student has a planned absence, such as athletics, band, or vacation, the make0up work is expected upon arrival
back to class from the event.
Late Work: ,lease note that excessive late work may result in a poor grade. /owever, it is highly encouraged to turn
in an assignment late than not at all. /alf credit is better to average in a grade than no credit.

run out, it is the responsibility of the student to ac8uire one on his/her own.

5. +ork is determined as late when it is not submitted at time of collection. &herefore, the student must be
organized to prevent the disappointment of temporarily losing it.
2. Completed late work will be given no more than a B<=. 'ncomplete late work will not be accepted.
Ho7e9ork: Students should note their assignments on their agenda provided by the school/teacher. Each day,
students are to record in their agenda- therefore, please check his/her agenda to keep up with his/her studies. "lso, please
keep graded homework in his/her binder. Do not discard graded assignments.
Extra #redit: Extra credit will be offered- however, students are expected to maintain their grades throughout the
grading period. ,lenty of opportunities for extra help will be offered to students that will allow them to maintain their
grades. &he teacher highly recommends students to make up late work instead for half credit.
Learning Skills Binder: Students are re8uired to keep a binder in which to organize his/her work. &he binder will
be shared among all courses. 't is upon the discretion of the binder rubric on how it is organized.
S,pplies: Students are expected to come to class prepared with his/her daily materials. Students will not receive
participation points if he/she chooses not to be prepared. #%&E: Students are responsible for the item he/she uses from
class. 'f an item is vandalized, broken, or lost% it is the st,dent 9ho 7,st replace it+
