EDUP 535: Presentational speaking task
Instructions for students:
Choose an animal that spends part of its life in Latin America and part of its life in the U.S. or Canada.
Prepare a 3-5 minute documentary slide show with narration to inform Spanish-speakers in Mexico,
Central America, or South America who live near the animal for part of the year about how the animal
lives during the part of the year it is not in their neighborhood. Consider the following questions for
ideas:
Does the animal look different while it is in North America?
Does the animal behave differently in North America? Consider breeding habits, singing, and group
living arrangements.
How do people interact with the animal? Are the interactions the same in Latin America and the U.S. or
Canada?
Do people hunt the animal? Do people capture it for trade?
Do people profit by tourism involving the animal?
Is the animal seen as a pest or a bearer of good fortune?
Do people affect the animal with habitat loss or protection efforts?
Where does the animal live? How much time does the animal spend there, and when? Discuss climate,
geography and seasons.
