Different Perspectives (Tiananmen Square Activity)
- Explain that in their source analysis they will be looking at pictures. So in this lesson we will be learning how to analyse pictures.
2 minutes - Open stage
Handout five different viewpoints of the square massacre.
4 Minutes - Present Information Get the students to write down whats happening in the picture?
Use who , when , what , how , when (write them on the whiteboard)
2 minutes - Practice Come Back as a group Get them to state - Practice Get students to give back there answers
2 minutes - Explain Explain the idea that one picture, sometimes doesnt include all the different types of perspectives.
Explain that when they look at different pictures they need to remember if all perspectives are included.

2 minutes - Present information Get them to write what the pictures are showing
1 -2 minutes -Explain Get them to state whos in the picture and what the person is doing 1 minute Ask Questions Explain whos in the photo , show a stereotypical picture of Hitler (on slideshow , followed by questions)
2 minutes - Confirm Stage Why dont we see this side of Hitler? What are some stereotypes we associate with Hitler?
Show them a picture of the crusades and get them to outline some stereotypes.
