Introduction During this lesson we will be learning how to do a source analysis.

Reason For Learning : The reason you are taught this is to :
- Develop Creative thinking
- To prepare you for senior level assessment
- In order to assess your knowledge about the crusades


Statement Of Objective : By the end of this period of instruction you will be able to :

- Able to understand what a stereotype is
- Have a basic understanding of bias
- Understand why colour is important
- Understand why we need to examine sources

Be ready to do your source analysis in period 6

- Explain that in their source analysis they
will be looking at pictures. So in this lesson
we will be learning how to analyse pictures.

Handout five different viewpoints of the square
massacre.

- Present Information Get the students to write down whats
happening in the picture?

Use who , when , what , how , when (write
them on the whiteboard)


2 minutes
- Practice Come Back as a group Get them to state
- Practice Get students to give back there answers

2 minutes - Explain Explain the idea that one picture, sometimes
doesnt include all the different types of
perspectives.

Explain that when they look at different pictures
they need to remember if all perspectives are
included.

1 minute - Close and Link - Show a pictures of; one of the crusades to
confirm if they have perspectives included.
(Christian and Muslim perspectives)

- Lead into stereotypes (Use the picture of a
soldier to look at stereotypes)

1 minute - Open Stage Handout the 10 pictures of Hitler

2 minutes - Present information Get them to write what the pictures are
showing

1 -2 minutes -Explain Get them to state whos in the picture and what
the person is doing
1 minute Ask Questions Explain whos in the photo , show a
stereotypical picture of Hitler (on slideshow ,
followed by questions)

2 minutes - Confirm Stage Why dont we see this side of Hitler?
What are some stereotypes we associate with
Hitler?

Show them a picture of the crusades and get
them to outline some stereotypes.
