You have been named the mysterious STD Exterminator by the Department of Health. However you have been ordered to work undercover!!! STDs are spreading and its out of control, and its up to you to come up with a clever way to disguise yourself, in order to help stop the spread.
During this mission you will learn all about STDs, what causes them and ways on how avoid them. Student Page Top Introduction Task Process Evaluation Conclusion Teacher page Credits Task Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are infections which are transmitted through sexual contact, including sexual intercourse and/or contact of private parts, mouth and/or rectum. Some STIs are also transmitted through blood. STIs are caused by either viruses or bacteria. Some STIs are treatable and curable while others are not. This is important information, as there are many rumours or myths going around. It is vital that you as the undercover agent are able to tell truth from tale. Read more about it here.
You are required to name the various diseases as well as do some research in your town about the various clinics and services available you never know someone may need your help! As a detective you always need to have yourself covered in case of emergencies! Here is a great booklet to help you! Introduction This lesson was created in order to assist teachers in using an ICT tool called WebQuest whilst teachers this topic is Sex Education. It offers a fun creative way for learners to interact and collaborate with each other as well as an individual component. Learners This lesson in specifically aimed at grade 11, however it can be easily adapted for any grade in the FET phase. The reason for this is that the learners should have reached a certain age of maturity in order to take part in this lesson. It is not suitable for lower grades. It is a lesson designed for the Life Skills Program Sex Education. Learners should be familiar with the terms STD & STI as well as what they entail, however this is not imperative as it is covered. Process In this activity the learners have to work in groups of four at first and then individually. For the group task they have to read about STDs and then fill in the table. For the individual task they have to answer questions in order to help a friend. The teacher acts as a facilitator, applying ideas, skills and knowledge. Group work, preparation for group presentation, organizing information and researching.
