MBTI Feedback Critique

I was afforded the opportunity to administer the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) to
two of my coworkers. I, too, took the MBTI and was able to use the testing resources to score all
of the answer sheets and determine each persons type. I have very positive feedback from
administering the assessment since both of my coworkers had heard of the MBTI and was very
eager to participate and learn more about their own individual personality type. We also shared a
positive experience in our feedback interview.
As it relates to my own personal critique, I noticed areas that I need to improve in. I felt
that I was able to start and end the interview well but felt less confident in the middle. After
listening to the interview I noticed that I might have been far too quiet. Although the visual
would demonstrate that I offered a lot of nonverbal cues to help my coworkers know I was
attentive and helping to move the discussion along, the audio does not give that same level of
involvement. Because the nature of the interview was much different than the clinical interview
that I conducted earlier in the semester, I neglected to use my paraphrasing skills and actually
felt that the interview was much more casual than any other Ive been able to participate in. I
dont know if this feeling came from the level of comfort with my coworkers or because every
other opportunity to practice these skills are just between myself and another individual. At
several points of the interview the two interviewees were talking to one another and left less
room for me to be as responsive as I might would be in an interview with just one person.
Overall, I feel that the MBTI feedback session was very informative and helpful for my
coworkers. Together they were able to identify their strengths and weaknesses that were
revealed from their personality types and how they work so well together. Having been in a

working environment with them and seeing them reach goals together it is extremely evident that
their personal types compliment one another and help them bring balance to the assignments and
tasks they share. I feel both parties were very open and receptive to the information shared and
believed the type indicator to be very accurate. In fact, they were so impressed with their
accuracy that they wished the entire department could do the assessment and see how our group
dynamics could be improved for an optimal work environment. The experience was good and I
enjoyed conducting the interview.
