8th Grade Field Trip

to

ENCORE!!
Dear Parent/ Guardian,
52% of the eighth grade class has never entered a theatre, however, our state
standards ask students to analyze theatrical works, describe the roles of
cultural organizations in our community, and demonstrate culturally proficient
behavior when attending formal live presentations. What better or more engaging way is
there to allow students the chance to practice these standards than to take them to a
professional theatre?
Eighth grade students have been offered the opportunity to purchase tickets to attend the
Chamber Theatre Companys production of ENCORE!! at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium
on December 15th, 2014 from 10:30 AM-12:15 PM. This is a unique opportunity to attend an
enriching cultural and educational event outside of the classroom setting. Five stories will be
compiled into one play, and three of those are texts that we read and analyze as part of ELA
curriculum units! After a helpful contribution from the Brennan Organization of Parents,
ticket and transportation costs are $19.00 per student. The permission form below and
payment are due by Thursday, Nov. 13th. Contact Mrs. Mastrogiacomo at
kmastrogiacomo@attleboroschools.com with any questions.
