Objective:

2. Analyse a legal issue that effects young people
3. Develop a clear argument to support your opinion using appropriate language

Summative Task:
Choose one of the following legal issues:
Downloading movies and tv shows without permission
Or
Cyber-bullying
Or
Corporal punishment by parents
Your job:
In a two paragraphs, explain why this is an important youth issue. Find out and explain
what the law currently says about it and whether you think the law should be changed. What
do you think should be the consequences (if any) and why?
Hints:
Think about why we have laws. Think about the many different types of punishment that are
possible. Be persuasive and make your argument clear using proper paragraphs. In each
paragraph, provide a clear reason to support your opinion. Use a minimum of four
paragraphs to explain your opinion.
Bonus points will be given if you can find a newspaper article (paper or on-line) that relates
to your legal issue and include it in your report. You should summarise the legal issue, name
the victim, the accused and the sentence if possible.
