I. Performance Objectives (Learning Outcomes):
A. The second grade students will be able to identify different types of pollution
and their sources as well as describe how waste is generated by completing an
exit slip before leaving class.

IV. Implementation
A. Introduction
1. To introduce the lesson the teacher will read Where Does
Pollution Come From?
2. The teacher will ask interactive questions to promote active
listening and check comprehension of the information and
introduction of the environment.
a. What is pollution?
b. What is affected by pollution?
c. How does pollution affect us?
d. Why do you think we need a clean environment?
B. Development
1. The teacher will show the students a PowerPoint of pollution
pictures from around the world.
2. The teacher will provide pictures from the PowerPoint to
groups of students.
3. The students will discuss in the picture provided in their group
and find describing words for the picture.
4. The teacher and students will use the describing words they
brainstormed to define pollution.
5. The teacher will introduce the three types of pollution by
verbally and visually explaining them.
6. The teacher will write the three types of pollution on the board
where the students will then come up and write examples of
each.
7. The teacher will then read the book, Where Does Pollution
Come From?
8. The students will fill in a graphic organizer to demonstrate
their knowledge of the types of pollution.
9. The teacher will then ask the students what is affected by
pollution and how pollution affects us.
10. The students will answer the questions in groups using yes/no
signs.
11. The teacher will ask why we need a clean environment. (If
students arent sure of answer, review).
12. The students will then complete an exit slip showing the
knowledge they now have after their lesson.

1. To accommodate MR, a second grade boy with Auditory
Processing disorder, I will have the students work in groups to
help each other with note taking, vocabulary, and instruction.
