PART A: Describe how students could create and publish an original movie, audio file, podcast, or vodcast in order to achieve
required learning standards. Challenge: For an A provide an idea where the learning activity reaches a LoTi level 4a or
above. To do this you will have to design a project where students engage in higher-order thinking and publish their work to an
audience that will use or care about the results. Broad feedback for their work is also a great way to boost interest and
performance.
Grade Level: Kindergarten
Content Area: Social Studies
Technology Used (check all that apply):

Content Area/Grade/Standards/Topics Addressed:

SSKH3 The student will correctly use words and phrases related to chronology and time to explain how things change.
a. Now, long ago
b. Before, after
c. Morning, afternoon, night
d. Today, tomorrow, yesterday
e. First, last, next
f. Day, week, month, year
g. Past, present, future
Brief Description of Learning Experience: What learning standards will be addressed? What will students and
teachers do? How will the project be introduced? How long will it take to complete? What audience will use/care
about the multimedia projects students are creating? How broad is this audience? How will student work be
assessed and by whom? Who will provide feedback to students about their work? The students will learn about the
months of the year through song in class. During circle time, students and teachers will learn the song and repeat it over and over
until students begin to retain the information being learned. The song will be uploaded on the classroom blog page for students to
view lyrics and listen to on their own whenever they would like. Underneath the standard SSKH3, students will be able to learn
areas B, E, F, and G that are listed above.
Student Engagement/Higher-Order Thinking: What LoTi level would this lesson be and Why? Which indicators of
Engaged Learning are strong and why? Children engaging in song with their teacher (with the help of their voices and
hand motions) are strong indicators of engaged learning.
Importance of Technology: Why is using a multimedia authoring tools critical to the project? Could the project be
completed without this technology? What would be lost without using it? What other types of technology, if any,
are going to be used in the learning experience? Using a multimedia authoring tool is critical to the project because it
makes learning and memorizing the months of the year so much easier. With the aid of learning through song, it makes
the activity more fun, quicker to learn, and easier to retain the information. Yes, the project could be completed without
the use of technology; however, it would only make it much more difficult for students to remember. Without the use of
audio, the fun in learning would be lost and in turn the project would become dull and boring. The types of technology
that are going to be used in this learning experience is any electronic device such as laptops, iPads, cell phones, etc.
Inspiration (optional): If you used existing multimedia projects as a model for your project (whether in part or
whole), include the URL(s) so we can visit. Explain what concepts you borrowed from others.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy: Briefly discuss some possible issues surrounding internet safety and student
privacy that could arise while implementing this learning experience and explain how youd minimize risks to
students/yourself, alleviate any fears by parents/administrators, and follow school districts Internet Safety/Use
Policy. There really should not be any issues surrounding internet safety and student privacy for the simple fact that students will
only use the internet to view the classroom blog page and yes, of course students will be supervised by a parent/guardian or
someone 18 years of age or older.

Other comments about your proposed student multimedia authoring activity: This activity is an awesome way for
students to remember the months of the year. I wish that when I was in school we had used multimedia to help with
memorization rather than just hear say.
