The majority of these refugees will
receive support in the country to which they fled until they can voluntarily and safely return to their home country. A small number refugees will be allowed to become citizens in the country to which they fled, High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)
Refugees have to receive a referral
Admissions Program (USRAP) for consideration as a refugee. The person will be interviewed by a USCIS officer who will determine whether the person is eligible for refugee resettlement.
USCIS look to the law of the place where
the marriage took place when determining whether it is valid for immigration purposes. There is no fee to apply for refugee status. Information that the person provides will not be shared with their home country.
If a person is approved as a refugee, they will
receive a medical exam, a cultural orientation, help with travel plans, and a loan for their travel to the United States. After they arrive, they will be eligible for medical and cash assistance. Refugees can work immediately upon arrival to the United States. If a person is admitted as a refugee, they must apply for a green card one year after coming to the United States.

States, they will need to obtain a Refugee Travel Document in order to return to the United States. If not they may not be able to return to the United States.
