securethedouble-foldinplace--withtheaccordionpocketpiece,unfoldtheaccordion
foldsbeforeyoutopstitchsothepiecelaysflatwhileyouaresewing(youshouldnotbe
sewingoveranyfolds).
5. Asshown,pinthesmallinteriorpocketpiecetotheleftside
ofthelargeinteriorpocket,thenpinthemediuminterior
pocketpiecetotherightsidewhereindicated.Topstitch
aroundthesidesandbottomedgesofthepockets,about
1/8-inchfromtheedge.

6. Taketheinteriorandexteriorpocketflapsandpintheliningandexteriorfabrics
together,rightsidesfacingin,wrongsidesout(thesideswiththepressedfolds).Sew
aroundthesidesandbottomedge,leavingtheentirefoldedtopedgeopen(youcansew
overthefolds).Unpinandturnrightsideout,gentlypushingouttheroundedcorners
withthetipofyourscissors.Topstitcharoundthesidesandbottomedgesofthepocket
flaps.Pintheinteriorflaponlytothelargeinteriorpocket,thetopedgeoftheflap
placedabout3/4inchabovethetopedgeofthemediuminteriorpocket.Topstitchacross
thetopedgeonly,sewingtheflaptothelargepocketsoitformsaflaptothemedium
pocket.

7. Nowpinthelargeinteriorpockettotherightsideofonelayerof

dressmakerspencilandruler,drawalinebetweenthesmalland
mediumpockets.Sewdownthelinetocreateadivisioninthelarge
pocket.
8. Pintheliningwiththesidesandtopedgealigned,rightsidesfacingin(thepocket
shouldbeinside).Sewalongthesideedges,about-inchfromtheedge.Now,tocreate
thesquarebaseofthelining,jointheopeningatthelowerrightsideoftheliningtothe
rightsideseam,pinninginplacesotheedgesalignandformaboxyshape.Sewthe
edgestogether,usinga-inchinseam.Repeatontheleftside.Yay!youarealldone

14. Nowletsputthatshoulderstrapinplace.Measureabout5-inchesfromthetopedgeof
thebaggussetpieceoneithersideandmarkthis.Foldtherawendsoftheshoulder
strapunderabout1-inch.Pinthebagstrapsothebottomedgeofthefoldedendjust
meetswhereyoumarkedonthebagandthestrapiscenteredonthebaggusset,as
indicated.Sewinasquarearoundthebottomedgesofthestrap,makinga-inch
square,thensewingdiagonallyfromcornertocornerintheboxtoformanX,as
shown.Thiswillhelpkeepyourstrapsecurelyinplace.Repeat
ontheothersideofthegusset,takingcaretoensureyour
bagstrapisnottwistedbeforeyousewtheotherside.

thebiastapeshouldoverlapbyabout1-inchwheretheymeet,oncepinnedalltheway
around.Foldoneendofthebiastapeover(thiswillcreateafinishededge)aboutinchandthenbeginsewingonthatfoldedend.Sewinthefoldofthebiastape,closest
tothetopedgeofthebag,about-inchinfromthetopedge,unpinningasyougo.
Takecaretoensureyouaresewingonthebiastape,thebagexteriorandtheliningin
ordertosecuretheselayerstogether.Attheotherendofthebiastape,foldtheedgeover
byinch,likeyoudidthestartingend,andoverlapthetwofoldedendsinorderto
finishtheends.
