Millennials are just Different
There has been an arising fallacious idea that millennials are going to drop the ball due to their
selfish ways. Many last generation authors feel that millennials are too self- absorbed and are
completely enthralled by their lust for self-furtherance in society. They claim that Millennials rely too
much on technology rather than on each other and that punishing millennials will fix the problem.
However, technology brings millennials together instead of splitting them apart.
To begin with millennial children rely on technology so much that teamwork is no longer
needed with the introduction of public computers. One of the biggest ways society has changed is the
amount of work a single person can get done by simply using a computer program. This will limit the
amount of social interaction people must take to get information, says Joanna Chau (1). For Instance,
when an employee needs business statistics for an upcoming meeting they will no longer have to call
up multiple company divisions to get the information. All they have to do now is look at a few
computer logs. This makes people more self-sufficient and takes away from the need of teamwork.
Another reason millennial children are self-absorbed, is that their parents have raised them that
way, says Craig Junginger (1-2). Many parents want the best for their children so they drive their kids
to work hard and achieve high. Parents of Millennial children want them to get ahead of everyone else,
says Dave Verhaagen (1). This means that children have been exposed to selfish lifestyles since they
were born. If parents would focus on teaching their children to work together to create a better world,
then there would be no need to worry about their self-centeredness. They can use the technology to
help each other even when they cant meet face to face. They can use vehicles like e-mail to share notes
or texting to remind each other of class assignments.

Millennial children are not self-absorbed but can actually be genius. With the introduction of
computers and the internet there is no need to hire massive employee crews to get stuff done. However,
this does not mean there isnt a need for teamwork. My logic is simple someone who wants to design
better technology would want to get their ideas from the people who use that technology. After a new
piece of technology has been designed a group of people have to build and implement the new
technology. Another form of teamwork would be through the use of the internet. The internet provides
a vehicle to find and/or share information that has not been available to previous generations. It is a
powerful tool that connects people and ideas.
Technology has helped society and the millennial generation more than it has hurt it. Most of
the people who oppose the millennial generation seem close-minded and dont seem to want to see the
benefits that they bring to the table. The millennial generation has a strong group of smart people who
will pick up where the last generation left off. They will just do it in a newer and more efficient way.
