Ans. Meg wanted a few curls on her face and Jo undertook the task of setting her hair with the help of a hot pair of tongs. When Jo took off the paper to check the curls she discovered that instead of a row of ringlets, Megs hair had come off with the paper as the tongs were too hot that they burnt the hair and they came off. 2. Describe the way in which both girls got ready for the party. Ans. Meg wore a silver-coloured dress and Jos was maroon. Each put on one nice glove and carried the spoilt one their hands. Meg wore high heeled slippers and tied a ribbon on her hair. Jo wore a bun with nineteen hairpins stuck in it. 3. Why did Jo hide behind the curtains? Ans. When the dancing began, Jo saw a big red- haired boy coming towards her, and fearing that he might ask her to dance, she went and hid behind the curtains. 4. What was the reason for Meg and Jo to wave good bye to their mother before leaving? Ans. Meg and Jo always turned to wave good-bye to their mother as they believed that they could never get through the day without seeing their mothers smiling face , for whatever their mood may be, her face always helped to cheer them up. 5. Why was there the need for the girls to work? Ans. The girls father, Mr. March had lost all his money, trying to help an unfortunate friend, hence the two eldest girls insisted they be allowed to work. While Meg found a job as a nursery governess, Jo was given the task of looking after old Aunt March, who was lame and needed an active person to look after her.
