To anyone who does not realize this, let me make something clear. Morality is serious.

It
is incumbent upon each of us, upon all of us, to act morally, both individually and
collectively.
Many people realize this, and take pains to act morally. Many people do not realize this,
and do all kinds of ugly stuff. Like many people, I would change that if I could, but it is
not in our hands.
But even more troubling to me is that one of the largest groups that I am part of, my
nation, The United States of America, acts immorally. Actually, it acts very immorally,
often. In truth, my nation, The United States of America, acts extremely immorally, so
frequently that it can be considered its routine behavior.
That is not the common viewpoint. Paying attention to the mass media, one gets the
impression that America is the best governed, most moral, most noble, most selfless
nation in the world today, doing good and good only all around the world.
But that view is the fruit of propaganda. That view is the fruit of disinformation. That view
is the fruit of not-knowing.
Americans! Take your country into your hands, and become a moral country! Then and
only then, after making the big changes in our behavior required, might we be justly
proud of our country--PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN.
