    1. Yourgradeisdeterminedbyyouandthepointsyouaccumulateduringthe
    gradingperiod.Thetotalnumberofpointsyouveearnedisdividedbythetotal
    numberpossiblewhichisexpressedinapercentageanddeterminesyourgrade.
    2. GradeswillbeprintedandpostedapproximatelyeveryTuesdaysoyoucan
    monitoryourprogressduringthegradingperiodandalsocheckthatyourgrades
    havebeenrecordedcorrectly.
    3. Pointsareearnedinthefollowingways.

    ClassParticipation
    a. Byactivelyparticipatingthismeansbeingactivelyinvolved.
    b. SpeakingSpanishintheclassroomisessential.Itisavitalandindispensable
    partoflearningalanguage.Itshowwelearn.
    c. Youneedtobepreparedwithyourmaterialsinclasseveryday.Youneedto
    bring:yourbook,abinderandapenorpencil.
    Itishard,ifnoimpossible,toparticipateifyoudonthavethenecessary
    materials.
    d. Youwillreceiveagradebasedonyourclassparticipation.Thisgradeisworth
    approximately70points(orapproximately10%ofyourgrade)eachgrading
    period.Youwillbegivenparticipationstickersduringtheperiodforvolunteering,
    speakingSpanish,orasincentives.

    Homework
    a. Homeworkisveryimportantandwillbeassignedalmostnightly.Itgivesyouthe
    necessarypracticesoyoucanmasterthematerialanddemonstratethatmastery
    ontests.Itwillbecheckedforcompletenessatthebeginningofclassandwewill
    gooveritsothatyoucancorrectyourmistakes,therebylearningfromthem.
    Homeworknotcompletedbythestartofclassisconsideredlateanddocked
    20%ofthegrade.HomeworkwillbecollectedonFridaysaspartofaweekly
    homeworkpacket.
    b. Homeworkpacketsareworth30to40pointsdependingonwhetherthereare3
    or4assignmentsthatweek.Packetsaregradedon:
    i. Accuracy(Aretheremanymistakes?)50%
    ii. Completeness(Areallassignmentsincluded?)25%
    iii. Timeliness(Aretheycompletedwhendue?)25%

    c. Whenyouareabsent,itisyourresponsibilitytoseetheteacherfoallmakeup
    work.Studentshave2daysforeachdayabsenttocompleteandhandin
    homeworkitisalsoyourresponsibilitytogetanynotesyoumissed.
    d. Youareencouragedtokeepallcorrectedhomeworkuntiltheendofthechapter
    touseinstudyingandreviewing.Itisimportanttokeepthemuntilyouhave
    checkedyourpostedgradetoseethatyourscoreshavebeenrecordedcorrectly.

    Evaluation/Testing:
    a. Eachchapterhas2vocabularyquizzesworth25points.
    b. Chaptertestswillbegivenevery4to5weeks.Chaptertestsareworth100
    points.Alltestswillbekeptonfilewithme.
    c. Makeuptestandquizzesareyourresponsibility.Assoonaspossibleyoushould
    arrangeatimebeforeorafterschool(notduringtheschoolday)tomakethem
    up.Generally,thesooneryoumakeupatestthehigheryourscoreis.
    d. Theremayalsobe3or4project/presentationseachsemester.
    e. Therewillbenotalking/texting,etc.duringatest.ItIseeorsuspectsomeone
    cheatingonatest,youwillreceivea0.
    f. Whenyoufinish,youmustsitquietly,workonhomeworkorreadabookuntil
    everyoneisfinished.Atestmustbefinishedoneyouhavestarteditinother
    words,youcannotstartatestandfinishitatalatertime.

    ExtraCredit
    a. TherearenotmanyopportunitiesforextracreditThebestthingyoucandofor
    yourgradeistodoyourhomework.
    b. Toencouragetoyoutodothem,Idogive25extracreditpointseachquarterif
    everyassignmentisdone,regardlessofthegradeorifitislate.

    Anytimeyouarehavingdifficultyordonotunderstandsomething,pleasefeelfreeto
    seemebeforeorafterschool.Iamusuallyhereat7:30andalsoafterschool.Tutors
    arealsoavailableforextrahelp.

    ClassroomRules
    1. Studentswillshowrespecttotheteacherandtheotherstudentswhohave
    permissiontotalk.
    2. Studentswillactinamannerthatdoesnotdisrupttheclassroomenvironment.
    3. Studentswillcometoclasswiththeirbook,theirbinder,apenorapencil,and
    papereveryday.
    4. Noeating,drinkingorgumintheclassroomatanytime.
