The Greenhouse

Effect:
Heat Transfer

Jesse Ruiz, November 2014

Topic: Heat Transfer in The Greenhouse Effect
Audience: 9th 12th Grade
Webquest ID #: 171873
Summary: In this lesson, my students will get to analyze The Greenhouse Effect
through the three methods of heat transfer. The students will be able to differentiate
between conduction, radiation, and convection, and the connection between them
all. They will get to read and experience hands on how all three are integrated into
The Greenhouse Effect. They will understand the application of a science concept in
a real-world controversial issue.
Activities: They will get the chance to choose their own vocabulary words and
define it how they understand it. In this way, the students ideas are put down on
paper and processed. Afterwards, they will find the real definition and modify their
own to improve its accuracy.
They will also perform a lab to recreate their own Greenhouse and record data to
observe its effect hands-on. They will write and draw how each form of heat transfer
is involved. They will also take a short quiz about basic Greenhouse Effect facts.
