ThisprojectwillhelpstudentsmeetthestandardssetforthbyNebraska,andwillbeused
asaprojectinthemiddleoftheunit.Thisprojectwillmeetthestandardsofvocabulary
andcomprehension,byacquiringnewvocabularywordsandunderstandinghowtoapply
thosewordsincontext,aswellasunderstandingwhytheyaremakingdecisionswith
regardtotheirwordchoice.
Introduction
Thislessonwillhelpstudentstoanalyzethewritingandwordchoiceofanadvanced
writingtohelpthemimprovetheirownskills,focusingparticularlyontheadvanced
writersuseofdescriptivealternativestothewordsaid.Theywillworkon
understandingwhatmakesagoodwritersogood.Finally,theywillapplythisknowledge
toashortpaperoftheirown,andthencontinuetousethisknowledgeastheycontinuein
theirwritingcareers.
Technology
Materialsneededforthislessonwillprimarilybetheliteratureanthologies.However,

effectivelyincorporatetheverbsintoittoenhanceit,ratherthanjustincorporatingthem
forthesakeofincorporation.Itwouldalsobewellwrittenandmakesensewiththe
characterspersonalitiesaccordingtothestoryalreadywritten.Finally,thereshouldbe
littletonogrammarorspellingmistakes.Thislessonwillbeapplicableinthefutureas
thestudentsdocreativewritingwherecharactersinithaveadialogue.Theywillalsobe
abletousethistounderstandwhysomewritingisstrongerthanotherwriting.
