College vs High School

Entering college is usually different for students that are coming from high schools due to
the difference in environment. College and high school differs from each other in several ways;
college has a wider range of age groups and also they have a difference in class schedule.
However the two different institutions have some similarities. College and high school are both
good opportunities new people. Also when entering, both are times when children lives begin to
mentally and physically transition. Due to the difference in the environments, high school and
college differs from each other as well as share some similarities.
One of the major differences between high school and colleges is the different range of
age groups. High schools consist of students in their mid-teen ages. College students on the
other hand age groups range from eighteen years and up. A lot of the classes in college have
students with twenty years age difference. A young student fresh out of high school could be
taking a class with a forty year old married man. There is no limit of how old a student has to be
to attend college as long as they meet the institution requirements.
There also is a big difference in college and high school schedules as well. The way high
schools schedules are set up students attend the same classes every day of the week. However in

college student usually dont attend the same classes every day throughout the week. Most of the
time students have a class one day out of the whole week. Another difference in the schedules is
the amount of classes that can be taken in a day. In college the maximum amount classes you
can take in a day is three. However in high school only seven classes are usually taken a day.
This due to the length of time the class hours last. In high school the classes last for an hour. In
college the classes are three hours.
The two institutions do share some similarities on the other hand. One similarity that
college and high school have is they both a chance for students to get to meet new a lot of new
people. High school student population is much larger than middle school and elementary; this
gives students a good chance to meet new people from all over the city. The same thing happens
when entering college, student around a whole new group of people. College and high school
both have large populations, which give students chances to meet new people.
Entering College and high school are both big transition stages in people lives. When
students began to attend college as well as high school they begin to mature and hold more
responsibility. For instance in high school students usually have to become more responsible as
far getting home. They no longer can depend on their guardian to come and pick them up from
school. The same situation occurs when entering college. In college students literally have to
take care of themselves, especially if they are not living at home anymore. Also the maturity
levels began to increase when entering college and high school. Students tend to drop childish
habits and began to act as a young adult.
The environment of college and high school are two different environments. College has
a wider range of age group and a different setup in class schedule. However the two share some

similarities as well. College and high school both give you chance to meet a whole new group of
people. Also they are both transitioning stages in a childs. The college environment is different
from high school however they do share some similarities.
