1. Examine and discuss findings from the instructional rounds phase
2. Discuss and vote on two possible strategies for moving into the action phase of our work together
Agenda:
1. Framing and warm-up (8:00 8:20)
a. Meeting goals & overview
b. Main goal of our next phase of work:
Design, pilot, and refine interventions that support PHAs teachers in developing thick
understandings of constructivist/student-centered practice, and in using these understandings
to improve their instruction.
c. Write-share about your experience doing rounds: what stuck with you or struck you most?
2. Overview and discussion of key findings from the rounds phase (8:20-8:55)
a. Sarah presents findings: what we saw, what we didnt see, & what we wondered
b. In small groups, then as a whole group:
i. React to these findings, keeping in mind two key questions:
1. What big ideas do we want to keep in mind as we move toward action?
2. In terms of our continued learning as a whole group, what do we still need or want to
know/do/learn, even as we move forward?
***5 minute break***
3. Moving toward action (9:00-9:55)
a. Sarah frames the common goals and structures of this next phase of work
b. Pair-share: discussing two options for the structure/model of our work moving forward
i. Strategy 1: COMMON FOCUS.
ii. Strategy 2: JIGSAW.
c. Preliminary vote & discussion of next steps
4. Ticket to go: hopes and fears (9:55-10:00)

Discussing Our Strategy for Action

STRATEGY 1: COMMON FOCUS. We choose a focal set of routines that will serve as an anchor for the
work around constructivism and student-centeredness that happens at all campuses. (Examples:
accountable talk, visible thinking strategies, etc.)
ADVANTAGES:
Could help promote school-wide coherence (for Ts & Ss)
Strong platform for cross-campus learning
Still leaves room for different campuses to experiment with different forms of teacher
support & learning
DISADVANTAGES:
Does not allow for as much differentiation by campus
It might be difficult to reach consensus about which resource or set of routines to use.

STRATEGY 2: JIGSAW. Each campus decides on its own strategy and/or set of routines to serve as an
anchor for its work around constructivism and student-centeredness.
ADVANTAGES:
Allows each campus to decide how to respond to its particular assets and challenges.
Opportunity for greater range of institutional learning.
Still includes the possibility to try out shared processes and structures (e.g. incorporating
rehearsals into coaching)
DISADVANTAGES:
More room for incoherence (for teachers as well as kids)
Fewer possibilities for cross-campus learning for teachers
