Meaning
To ask and answer about elements in a restaurant
Use
Know how to answer or ask for elements or food in a restaurant.
Target Language:
- Modal verbs
- Vocabulary related to Meals
- Elements use in a restaurant such as: napkins, Menu, bill or
check, etc.
- Adjetives such as : salty, bitter, sweet, spicy.

Solutions

Ss may mispronounce some words such as:


napkins.

Ss may confuse the meaning of modal verbs

We are going make drilling activities


with the words mispronounced
We are going to clarify the difference
between the words by showing pictures
and making the students repeat the
words

meaning.
PRESENTATION

Present them the language exponent, the


meaning, use and form.

T provide Ss with handouts
Each handout shows a meal, a modal
verb and an adjective.

T. Proposes a drilling game in which one student says the


language exponent and adds a meal and then the
following ss does the same but with a different meal
(without repeating the meal).

T. reads instructions and then models the first excersice.


T. clarify doubts about instruction and then asks two
students to model another excersice.

Ss in pairs have to construct sentences


according to the exponents using
elements provided

T. Lets share our answers

T supervises Ss activities.

We ask them for meaning (if they know) and then we show
them the structure and clarify meaning.

T gives the instructions and a dialogue


for a speaking activity.

T. gives a short dialogue to ss and says the instructions.


Now you will work with this short dialogue and you will
represent a real restaurant scene

In pairs Ss have to act as waiter/waitress


and costumer

T. You will have 15 minutes to practice and I will be


monitoring, any question ask me please

T supervises Ss activities.

PRODUCTION

T provides instructions for an oral


activity where ss have to create a short
dialogue using images (provided by the
teacher).
Ss work by themselves using what they
have learn in class and they will ask the
teacher when they need some help.

T. provides the ss with pictures of different kind of meals


T. gives the instruction for the activity In this activity you
will work in trios and you will pretend you are in a real
restaurant! Two of you will be the costumers and the other
one the waiter/ waitress. The pictures provided are going
to represent the meals and you will have to act as if this
was real

Some ss show their productions in front


of the class as a role play.
Any volunteer for representing the role play? No? Ok.
