Norman Locke, aged 85, died of a heart attack in his home in St Marys, NSW.

Born in St Marys NSW, in 1894 he had a father called Jerome and a brother called Leslie. He wasnt
educated and he was a single man.
Before going to the war Norman was a Contractor and he had previous military service with the Windsor
Corps. His religion was Presbyterian and he hadnt won any awards or had any special accomplishments.
When he enlisted on the 2nd of June 1915 he was a private. He enlisted because he felt he had to do his
part to help defend the country and he had a positive outlook on the war. He was part of the ANZACs
that fought at Gallipoli. The conditions were hard in Gallipoli. He had to swim through freezing water,
and dig massive trenches for their beds and supplies. The nature of war was machine guns, uphill and
rocky terrain, waves of men and fast-paced.
The significant woman in his life was his cousin. His cousin knitted socks, mufflers, mittens and balaclava
helmets. She had a positive influence on him because he felt that his family cared for him and they
wanted him to be warm and safe.
His family that is left to mourn him is his father Jerome, his brother Leslie, and his cousin Michael. He
didnt have any friends in the war but if you can please pay your respect to those that are affected by
this loss.
The funeral for Norman Locke will be held at the David Smith Funeral Center in St Marys, NSW on
September 15th. Please contact Leslie Locke on 0463 96 7153 for more information.
