Government of Haiti has been toying with an idea of using Satellite Technology for better utilization

of their resources. The proposal is for using this technology to optimize its agricultural resources,
weather forecasting ability, nationwide television broadcasting, internet broadband communication
and for social development. The governing authority is in the stage of feasibility analysis where
economic, operational and organizational possibilities are to be evaluated.
To help them with this project, they have decided to use services of a well-known consultancy firm.
You are the team members who have been assigned the jobs to identify value chain of satellite
industry and figure out the business models for various players in this market.
Typically, three players make up the satellite upstream eco-system.
1. Satellite manufacturers (around 15 across the world)
2. Satellite Launchers (very few mostly in the US, Europe, China, India and Japan)
3. Satellite operators (more than 50 located all over the world)
The down-stream eco-system consists of television broadcasters, GPS operators, weather
agencies, space research, telephone companies, airlines etc etc. Obviously, Govt of Haiti is a
downstream user.
