France is not going to hand over the warships to Russia until they halt military
action in Ukraine. The deal was also opposed by the US and the Baltic Nations and is
suspended until further notice. The Vladivostok and the Sevastopol are the warships that
were supposed to be sent to Russia but they are currently put on hold. Russia also
threatened to sue France for saying they were breaching the contract and Russias deputy
PM said they would hold off any international legal action for the moment. The ships are
capable of carrying 16 helicopters, four landing crafts, 60 armored vehicles, 13 battle
tanks and between 450-700 solders. The deal was concluded in 2011 by the President at
the time, Sarkozy, and his successor Hollande, has said that the ceasefire in Ukraine must
be respected before any ships are handed to Russia. Also, earlier in the year French
foreign minister, Fabuis, said the deal would go ahead saying it would be honored like all
contracts before. But recently, he told France inter radio that the requirements for
delivering the ships has not been made. Head of the Russian navy, Vystosksy, said if they
had these warships they would have been able to be victorious in many of their battles.
Also Putin declares that they will use the warships whenever they are necessary.

Personally I dont believe that France should go through with the contract that
intitules Russia to two warships. The reason is because if France were to give Russia the
war ships, in the article is says how capable the ships are of carrying an abundance amount
of military weapons, whats stopping Russia from fully attacking the Ukraine? The Russia is
one of the strongest nations and if they really wanted to take over the Ukraine the
warships are most likely going to help them achieve that. Putin even says that Russia would
use the ships whenever deemed necessary and it has been said before that Russia really
wants to take control of the Ukraine. Also, if France were to give Russia the warships and
Russia does end up attacking and taking control of the Ukraine, France would also be to
blame because they gave them the warships in the first place. So, France may also be seen
as a threat which is not good for them or any nation.
