Creating our own Patternland community member!

Each student gets 1 piece of white paper to draw on.


Have students brainstorm at least 4 different types of
patterns they want to use on the Patternland community
member!
- Students who finish early, encourage them to decorate
the background with different patterns (cloud pattern)
(striped grass)
- Have students name their pattern character (Laci the
Pattern Lady)
- Students who complete and well done pattern person
may do a second pattern person (encourage students to
have patterns ALL OVER THE PAGE prior to starting a
second pattern man)
Closure
If there is time, re-read the pattern poems to students. Have
them look at their pattern characters. Is there something that
they could add to the pattern character? Does their pattern
character fit in with Sadie & Dan?
Students representation of pattern do students understand
what a pattern is? Can they demonstrate understanding of
several different patterns?
Compliment students that actively engage, try their best to
demonstrate several patterns & fill the page with patterns
