Introduction
Math is typically known as a hard and boring subject. People do not
realize that math is actually in everyday things that we do. Math can
be fun and very engaging. In this webquest you will see that math
and sports are related when looking to pick new players for the
Akron Rubber Ducks Team.
The Akron Rubber Ducks are looking to trade for consistent hitters.
To find these consistent hitters they are on the look out for high
Batting Averages. Batting averages are calculated by dividing the
number of hits a player has by the total number of at bats they have
had, this will then result in a decimal.
The teams the Akron Rubber Ducks have ability to tade with are the
Carolina Mud Cats, Pensacola Blue Wahoos, and the Midland Rock
Hounds.
You will be examining and comparing the individual statistics for the
players on these teams to find one player from each team that the
Akron Rubber Ducks should make a trade for.

Conclusion
Thanks for your time in helping the Akron Rubber Ducks! By completing this activity you
were able to find the player with the highest batting average on each of the three teams.
Thanks to all your help, the Akron Rubber Ducks manager is now able to figure out which
players they want to go after in the trade!
Dont forget, batting averages for players are always changing! Keep a look out on the same
players throughout the next couple of weeks to see if their still in the same high ranking
position. Feel free to watch a baseball game and see if you can figure out who is doing well
and who isnt! Have fun!
