Animal Care Agreement

This is our standard adoption agreement that must be completed and signed by anyone wishing to adopt
an animal from the VSPCA. Please remember, our number one concern is for the animals, and we strive
to place them in the best, loving, forever homes.

Adopters Agreement
I agree that the animal is being adopted for myself and will not be sold, adopted, or given to anther
party.
(If adopting a cat) I agree that I will not declaw the cat.
(If adopting a dog) I agree that if I have to tether my dog, the tether will be a minimum of 12 feet
in a comfortable, shaded, and contained area. The dog will be companion animal.
I will not breed my animal.
The animal will be spayed or neutered, if not done so already, once s/he is of age.
I agree to care for the animal in a humane manner. This includes supplying adequate and nutritious
food, clean/fresh water, shelter, attention, and medical care.
I agree that if at any point I cannot keep the animal, I will return him/her to the VSPCA.
I understand and agree that the VSPCA makes no guarantees about the animals temperament and
is not responsible for future damages or injuries to the animal.
I give the VSPCA permission to visit the animal if they wish to after an appointment has been
made.
I agree to keep the VSPCA informed of my current home address and phone number/s.
I have read and do understand the agreement. I understand that failure to uphold the above
agreements will jeopardize my ownership of the animal.
