Serotonin is released in correlation with stimulus, so when a child is excited by what is being taught serotonin is

released down the cell line which increases the ability of making a lasting memory (Psychology Today, 1992).
When high levels of serotonin are released into the body it can cause serotonin syndrome which causes a brain to
have difficulty focusing, through the lack of focus learning is unable to take place (Brainy info, n.d.). Although
scientists are unable to completely agree rough consensus is present in the literature. Stimulation of serotonin
circuits impairs memory formation while impeding serotonin activity improves memory formation (Brainy info,
n.d.).
