Title of Lesson: Encouraging Mindfulness with Mindful Eating (Macro teaching)

14.1 Analyze factors that influence nutrition and wellness practices across the lifespan.
14.1.1 Explain physical, emotional, social, psychological, and spiritual components of individual and family wellness.
14.1.2 Analyze the effects of psychological, cultural, and social influences on food choices and other nutrition practices.
2. Prior Knowledge
Prior knowledge will be assessed by:
Beginning the class with by Im stressed on the board, and asking each person to write on a scrap piece of paper 3-5 things that are
stressing them out right now. Ask the participants to look at their list and reflect upon it, and then rip it up. Instructor will then ask the
class if they have ever heard of mindful eating before or if they think they know what it is.

students will be able to list 3-5
things that stress them out

4. Assessment of Learner
Outcomes: In the space below,

Ask the students to list 3-5
stressors in their life on a
piece of scrap paper at their
seat. Once they have reflected
upon their current stressors,
ask them to rip the paper up.
Open discussion about what
students think mindful eating
is and whether or not they
have tried it before.
Following the PowerPoint
presentation, ask the class to
explain to the instructor what
mindful eating is

from the lesson (cognitive)

eating strategy discussed that
they feel they will follow
