newspaper or magazine articles, the World Wide Web, or other sources.
Since you will be earning, spending, saving, and investing throughout your life, its time
to understand finance in mathematical terms and gain confidence in your ability to
manage money.
This course will take you through strategies to help you learn the time value of money,
how to evaluate the best cell phone contract, how to build a business plan by knowing
costs, profits, and breakeven points, and much more. The practice problems use reallife scenarios.
During this course you will be introduced to advances mathematics concepts such as;
piecewise functions, regression, limits, exponential functions, linear/quadratic systems,
and more.

Standards-Based Grading:
Assessments will be graded based on performance linked to the mathematical
standards set forth by RSU10.
This year students will work towards proficiency on all standards (Learning
Targets). Learners will be asked to demonstrate a minimum score of 2.5 (Emerging
Proficiency) on all standards-based assessments, keeping in mind that students still need a
2.7 GPA to pass the course. If students do not meet the minimum requirement of a 2.5 on
their standards-based assessments, or if they fall behind teacher pacing, they will be
required to obtain support. Support can be obtained after school or during a block of time
during the school day known as Target Time.
Reassessments:
One reassessment will be allowed once all homework/practice work is completed,
the failed assessment is corrected, remediation work is done, and Ms. Russell has met with
the student to check for comprehension of the learning goals. Reassessments will not be
allowed during target time due to the busy atmosphere of the room. The highest score
achievable on a reassessment will be a 3.
