Use of Formative
Assessment

Students will be able to

correctly color and identify
the objects using ordinal
numbers, first through fifth.

aloud.
During: Students will be
expected to be actively
engaged and fully participate
throughout the lesson. I will
assess students based on if
they know the answer to the
question when called on.
Post: Students will work at
Mrs. Armstrong and Mrs.
Wills tables to further their
practice with a worksheet.

If students cannot
correct identify first
through fifth we will do
another activity with
cubes. At the end of the
lesson students should
have a clear
understanding of how to
identify objects in first
through fifth place.

Accommodations:
For the student who is ADHD, I will have to make sure is on task during instruction by giving him opportunities
to answer questions. During activity time I will have to make sure he stays on task but making the activity
interesting in order for him not to get uninterested. For my student who is who is an English language learning,
I will rephrase questions and directions in order for him to understand. For my students with autism and

Aspergers, I will give a short summary of what we will be doing sure our lesson, a detailed explanation and
finish with a summary of the lesson so that each one knows what to expect.
Materials:
The Ghosts Dinner by Jacques Duquennoy
Ghost Bibs
Cubes (if needed)
Worksheet created by Mrs. Armstrong
Smart board
iPad camera stand
Name popsicle sticks
Crayons
Pencils
Procedures:
1. First I will read my students The Ghosts Dinner by Jacques Duquennoy so that they remember what
happens in the book.
2. I will review verbally ordinal numbers are, only reviewing first through fifth.
3. We will then talk about what the ghost drank/ate first, second, third, fourth, and fifth.
4. I will ask five students to come to the front of the room, and I will give each of them ghost bibs for them
to where.
5. I will draw names out of the can and ask those students questions like: Who is third?, Who is first?,
Who is second?, Who is fourth?, and Who is fifth?
6. If time permits I will ask questions like What color shirt is the person in fourth place wearing? This
will allow the students some practice before there worksheet.
7. After I have asked about ten students I will switch out the students that are up there with the bibs for five
other students.
8. I will explain the worksheet and students will be dismissed to their tables to work with Mrs. Will and I.
9. After their worksheets are completed they will go to their assigned center if time allows.
Activity Analysis:
Activity 1: The first activity the class will do is identify who is first, second, third, fourth, and/or fifth based on
the questions I ask. I will go through the whole can and ask a variety of questions to make sure they each get a
chance to answer. This activity will allow students to answer aloud and give them further practice with ordinal
numbers.
Activity 2: The second activity the students will do is the worksheet created by Mrs. Armstrong. This
worksheet is going to allow students to practice ordinal numbers based on the commands given to them. This is
also going to integrate art because they have to not only count and identify first, second, third, fourth, and fifth,
they also have to color which one.
